The Career Leadership Collective (The Collective), home of The National Alumni Career Mobility (NACM) Survey, seeks a full-time data and visualization analyst to serve on our data team. The Collective currently offers the following survey services for US colleges and universities: 

  • NACM 5/10: an annual alumni survey for 5/10 year alumni for campuses and including an annual national report for the field of higher education. 

  • First Destination Survey + NACM New Grad core: an annual alumni survey of recent college graduates, which includes a NACM core of questions in order to benchmark with the NACM 5/10 survey.

  • Alumni Career Data Refresh: A file matching service to help colleges increase their knowledge rate of alumni career data which pulls from approximately 80 million data files from 15 sources. 

  • Custom Alumni Career Survey Services: A fully customizable option for alumni career surveys. 

  • Quick Polls and Insights: The Collective also regularly sends out quick polls and surveys on hot topics in the field of career services. 


The successful candidate will have an understanding of survey processes, extensive data cleaning, formatting and structuring experience, ability to analyze data in various ways, will be able to engage with clients about survey process and results, and will be willing to learn new processes and systems in data analysis and visualization. 

This position reports the Data and Visualization Lead, and just like the entire team at The Collective, is a fully-remote work position. More about The Collective Team



  • Full custom survey creation for clients including consulting on question development, building out surveys in platform, utilizing survey logic and piping in the instrument, creating audience lists and scheduling messaging. 

  • Working directly with clients to do onboarding, portal approvals, mid-point check-in meetings, wrap-up data meetings, and special data requests. 

  • Data cleaning and structuring

  • Pulling specialized data sets for client use

  • Preparation of client deliverables such as campus specific reports, dashboards, and data files.

  • Collaboration with staff to create and write the national report. 

  • Other survey and data related project tasks as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience

  • Impeccable attention to detail 

  • Familiarity with data analysis and data cleaning tools and processes

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and external clients about project tasks



  • Familiarity with US Colleges and Universities, Career Services, and college data needs

  • Familiarity with Microsoft office suite with special attention to Excel 

  • Understanding of statistical analysis and testing including factor analysis and correlation.

  • Ability to visualize data in Tableau

  • Understanding of survey tools and processes

  • Outstanding communication skills with team members and clients

Jeremy Podany, Founder & CEO

Jeremy Podany is the Founder and CEO of The Career Leadership Collective, and the brains behind The National Alumni Career Mobility Survey and The New Forward, the first and only online news show for college career services.  Jeremy is an innovation, leadership, and organizational growth connoisseur with unique expertise on the confluence of university career services, systems-thinking, leadership, and organizational growth.  Jeremy enjoyed nearly 20 years working inside higher education in career services and corporate education, and has helped build six unique start-ups inside and outside of universities.  His inventions and consulting solutions have systemically helped thousands of university leaders and hundreds of thousands of college students with career education and social mobility.  Jeremy regularly writes, speaks, trains, and consults for universities, businesses, and tech start-ups.  His specialty involves helping university upper-administrators to weave career education into the fabric of the campus and maximize results. Jeremy’s reputation as a speaker and consultant is built on his engaging ability to communicate about complex and challenging leadership and organizational integration topics in higher education, business, and university career services with incredible authenticity, humility, and humor. He is a thought-leader, inventor, and a trusted advisor with the rare ability to both inspire organizations and audiences and provide them with practical takeaway strategies. Jeremy has a BA in English Education from Western Michigan University, and a Masters in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University. Vanessa Newton, Data & Visualization Lead

Vanessa Newton has worked in career services utilizing data for seven years starting her career off at the University of Kansas before moving to the University of Rochester. Throughout her career, Vanessa has utilized data and story-telling to provide valuable insights for the institutions notably working on building out first year post-graduation outcomes processes and reporting of that data, earning her a “Viz of the Day” nod from Tableau for her work at the University of Rochester.  Vanessa has a BA in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa and a MS in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University. Vanessa is currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan and enjoys spending her time flying through the air and hanging out upside down.
