DATA SPECIALIST

FT, Fully Remote

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Career Leadership Collective (The Collective), home of The National Alumni Career Mobility (NACM) Survey and EMBARK, seeks a full-time, remote Data Specialist to provide data cleaning, analysis and visualization support. The Collective currently offers the following career-related survey services for US colleges and universities:
 

  • National Alumni Career Mobility (NACM) Survey: An alumni career survey for 4-year colleges and universities at the 5-and10-year mark, or for select or all alumni. 

  • EMBARK: an annual alumni survey of recent college graduates, which includes a NACM core of questions in order to benchmark with the NACM 5/10 survey.

  • Alumni Career Data Refresh: A file matching service to help colleges increase their knowledge rate of alumni career data

 

The successful candidate will be a personable, impeccably detailed, tech-savvy professional, detail-oriented, resourceful, and able to effectively work both collaboratively and independently. They will have strong communication and organizational skills, completing tasks that require significant attention to detail. 

This position is fully remote and reports to the Senior Manager for Career Data and Research

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Clean and structure large datasets.

  • Automate data process either in conjunction with software developer or via designing automations via excel, R, etc.

  • Analyze specialized datasets for consulting, custom client projects

  • Prepare client deliverables such as campus specific reports, dashboard, data files

  • Design custom dashboards on Tableau

  • Partner with Senior Manager to design deliverables process

  • Assist Partner Success Specialist team during peak survey periods to prep survey and email portals

  • Document data processes for continuity across projects and time

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience

  • Impeccable attention to detail 

  • Familiarity with data analysis and data cleaning tools and processes

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and external clients about project tasks

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with making analysis decisions and creating data reports/dashboards with descriptive statistics

  • Expertise with data analysis software, in particular Excel

  • Ability to design automation in data processes using either Excel, R, Python or other software

  • Comfort with working remotely in a fast-paced environment

SALARY

  • $48,000 - $52,000, depending on experience

Jeremy Podany, Founder & CEO

Jeremy Podany is the Founder and CEO of The Career Leadership Collective, and the brains behind The National Alumni Career Mobility Survey and The New Forward, the first and only online news show for college career services.  Jeremy is an innovation, leadership, and organizational growth connoisseur with unique expertise on the confluence of university career services, systems-thinking, leadership, and organizational growth.  Jeremy enjoyed nearly 20 years working inside higher education in career services and corporate education, and has helped build six unique start-ups inside and outside of universities.  His inventions and consulting solutions have systemically helped thousands of university leaders and hundreds of thousands of college students with career education and social mobility.  Jeremy regularly writes, speaks, trains, and consults for universities, businesses, and tech start-ups.  His specialty involves helping university upper-administrators to weave career education into the fabric of the campus and maximize results. Jeremy’s reputation as a speaker and consultant is built on his engaging ability to communicate about complex and challenging leadership and organizational integration topics in higher education, business, and university career services with incredible authenticity, humility, and humor. He is a thought-leader, inventor, and a trusted advisor with the rare ability to both inspire organizations and audiences and provide them with practical takeaway strategies. Jeremy has a BA in English Education from Western Michigan University, and a Masters in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University. Jeremy lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wife and four children. He loves college basketball and driving his jeep thru, hiking in, or gazing at the Rocky Mountains.

Kimberly Yousey-Elsener, Senior Manage of Career Data & Research

Kim Yousey-Elsener brings over two decades of experience in higher education having professional roles in coordinating student affairs and academic affairs assessment, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, residence life, academic advising and support, community engaged learning, student retention, and student activities. Kim most recently came from Binghamton University where she was the Director of Student Affairs Assessment and Solutions for Engagement.

Her published works include “Coordinating Student Affairs Divisional Assessment: A Practical Guide” from Stylus Publishing as well as “Successful Assessment for Student Affairs: A How-to Guide” and “Advanced Assessment for Student Affairs: Making Reliable Data-Based Decisions” from PaperClip Communications. Her research interests include developing cultures of assessment and inquiry, equity minded assessment techniques, student retention, graduate career outcomes and high impact practices. Kim is most passionate about translating data into information to be used to transform systems and structures in order to ensure all students are successful during college and beyond.

She received her PhD. from New York University in Higher Education Administration and Policy, her masters in College Student Personnel from Kent State University and a Bachelors of Music Education from Baldwin Wallace University.  Kim lives with her family in Binghamton, New York and enjoys spending time outdoors, baking and playing the piano.
