OVERVIEW

We provide expertise to help university leaders weave career development into the fabric of campus experience. Our facilitation and consulting approach empowers the voice of your campus and simultaneously provides custom insight to help transform the career education value to current and prospective students.

LANDSCAPE ANALYSIS & STRATEGIC GROWTH PLANNING:

A comprehensive review of how career readiness, career education and the future of work principles can thoughtfully weave into the fabric of your unique campus. This analysis involves extensive interviews with multiple staff, faculty, administrators, employers, and campus stakeholders and culminates with a thorough report on recommended internal structures, staff competencies needed, programs, collaborations, and clear growth opportunities. Your campus will receive recommendations that provide a 1-5 year plan.  The Collective has engagement insight from hundreds of campuses around the country and believes the following concepts (at minimum) are essential on which to make substantial growth recommendations:

- Vision Clarity

- The Student Life Cycle + The Quality of Student Career Development Experience

- Faculty and Staff as Champions of Career

- Employment & Alumni Connections

- Big Career Data + Storytelling for Prospective Students

VOICE OF THE STUDENTS SURVEY AND VIDEO PROJECT:

In addition to understanding staff and faculty thoughts on career development structures and effectiveness, it can be quite important for the campus to understand the diverse student voice of the campus.  The goal for the student voice analysis is to survey key student and also to spend a day with students analyzing the student perspective on careers, work, and their future. This option produces both a survey report and a professional video to share with internal staff and faculty about the student voice on key career issues. The Collective will work with campus leadership on two important aspects of this project:

Key research questions for the student discovery survey and video project

Scheduling and targeting: to ensure diverse student voices are engaged and represented throughout the interactions, report, and video.

  • The professionally produced video will enliven the understanding of the student voice for the campus.  It is intended to be an internal awareness video only, and not one produced with the intention of sharing with external audiences as a marketing or promotional piece.

  • When done in conjunction with the Landscape Analysis, one comprehensive report is produced.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION ASSESSMENT & GROWTH PLAN:

The Career Leadership Collective career offices should be intentional toward their diversity and inclusion efforts, practicing preparation that is thoughtful, careful, humble, and which ultimately leads to robust solutions.  Our assessment of your diversity and inclusion practices is all about your campus and your career office. We provide practice recommendations toward 4 key areas: (1) Your plans and programs, (2) your marketing and messaging, (3) Your team knowledge, and (4) Your internal and external advocacy.

DESIGN DAYS & STAKEHOLDER FACILITATION SESSIONS:

This service empowers the campus voice through a day or series of days of facilitation with key campus staff and faculty to create specific practices for systematizing career education in more effective ways. Personalized and collaborative re-imagining sessions are rooted in design-thinking and can be done for groups of 10-75 key campus leaders.

CAREER TEAM RETREATS & STAFF TRAININGS:

These customized one-day intensive facilitation and training sessions on relevant topics will help your team to solve key challenges in front of you. These sessions leverage data, expertise, and leading-edge practices to help Career Staff Teams and Campus Partners create and implement unique solutions. Sessions vault your career team forward in a synchronized manner and provide you with game-changing results for years to come! Our most popular topics are: (1) Scaling Career Services, (2) Creating a Career Champions Network, (3) Reimagining Employer Relations, and (4) Embedding Career Services into the Classroom Experience.

CAREER VISION AND BRAND CREATION:

Using the data and insight from the landscape analysis and/or student voice project, a unique vision and brand for Career Education will be created in conjunction with key stakeholders. This phase will involve remote meetings with key campus leaders to solidify a brand and will culminate with a sophisticated presentation deck and onsite presentation to campus leaders of your choice.

EXECUTIVE SEARCH SERVICES:

The Collective can assist your campus in the search for a forward-thinking leader of career services.  Our comprehensive search services are for director and executive director level staff who lead career offices, or for AVP’s who oversee career services alongside other functional areas in their portfolio.

THE FUTURE OF WORK AND LEADING-EDGE PRACTICES FOR UNIVERSITIES:

This service is a ½-¾ day retreat for select campus leaders, staff, and faculty to sync-up together and learn about how future of work trends will impact their campus, and what the leading-edge career practices exist that will help them maximize student career education together.  Jeremy Podany, our CEO, who regularly trains and teaches upper-administrators, leads this session with your leaders.

CAMPUS ECOSYSTEM EQUIPPING:

This service is performed after a clear vision, system, and operations plan have been outlined.  The Collective works with campus leadership to decide on a series of presentations and facilitated learning sessions for key campus faculty and community members, with the goal of increasing their knowledge of career education, career conversations, the employment trends, and empowering buy-in for the new campus-wide career vision. Training topics are decided with your campus.
