POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Career Leadership Collective (The Collective), a prominent US college and university consultancy focusing on career education, and home of The National Alumni Career Mobility (NACM) Survey and strategic First Destination Survey (FDS) services, is seeking a key internal leadership role and external thought leader to oversee the growth and influence of our career insights, data, and research. 

The successful candidate will be an optimistic, thoughtful, and growth-oriented leader with a proven track record of team leadership, analysis and maximization of big data, understanding of higher education and career services, and savvy communication abilities to speak, teach, publish, and empower diverse higher education stakeholders. This is a leadership role (not a data analyst role) whereby research, analysis, and presentation skills and knowledge are used to empower our survey clients and the field of higher education with our big career data.  The candidate will possess a Ph.D or Ed.D. 

This position reports to the CEO, sits on The Collective’s Executive Leadership team, and supervises the Career Insights, Data, and Research Team.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Data Storytelling, Practical Analytics, and Research Oversight: Guide the direction and goals of our career research. Strong aptitude for driving narrative insights and guiding higher education, campuses, and our internal team through the storytelling process by leveraging data.

  • Insights, Data and Research Team Leadership: Lead our growing team of client relations consultants, project managers, data analysts, and data coders. 

  • Survey Services Management: Highly engaged, empowering, and hands-on management of all facets of our survey service processes to ensure quality research, effective processes, automation, scalability, and customer satisfaction.

  • Presenting and Publishing: Translate our career data, insights, and research into practical and critical insight for partner schools and the field of higher education through in-person and virtual presentations to career leaders, senior higher education cabinets, boards of trustees, main stage conference sessions, and more. Publish in various formats such as blogs, white papers, and journal articles.

  • Collaboration with Survey Partnerships Team: Ongoing communication with the partnerships team and sales process regarding topics that impact survey services, customer engagement, and product scalability. 

  • Support of Consulting and Training Mission: Advise the CEO on future initiatives, directions, and goals. Support the broad mission of The Collective to empower and equip higher education and career services leaders.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D or Ed.D

  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience or team leadership

  • Evidence of multiple oral and written presentations/publications via conferences, annual reports, blogs, webinars, journals, self-publishing, or related media

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience communicating practical uses of career data to higher education leaders

  • Natural confidence and comfortability on stage and in front of groups

  • Personal commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and knowledge of related practices and literature

  • Knowledge of statistical methods and interpretation, including hypothesis testing with the general linear model (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA, and regression) and basic knowledge of factor analysis. Familiarity with more advanced methods, such as multilevel modeling and structural equation modeling

  • Outstanding written and executive communication skills

  • Proven ability to engage in data storytelling and with a commitment to practical data visualization

  • Experience within higher education, career services, or adjacent industries

  • Experience with survey processes and tools

JOB DETAILS

  • Full-time, salaried, exempt from overtime

  • Fully remote

  • Moderate travel for speaking and consulting

  • Annual Salary Range $100,000 - $125,000 + benefits

  • Start date: Negotiable

The Collective currently offers the following survey services for US colleges and universities: 

  • NACM 5/10: Comprehensive annual alumni survey of 5- and 10-year alumni for campuses. Includes an annual national report for the field of higher education. 

  • First Destination Survey Services: Comprehensive collection, cleaning, interactive dashboard visualization, and reports service, which comes with an alumni data refresh to increase knowledge rates and the ability to connect to the NACM New Grad core for increased results on career preparation and campus best practices.

  • NACM New Grad core: A set of questions from our NACM 5/10 survey that can be added to any campus FDS instrument in order to benchmark nationally against other schools and connect with the NACM 5/10 survey data.

  • Custom Alumni Career Survey Services: A fully customizable option for alumni career surveys. 

  • Quick Polls and Insights: The Collective regularly sends out quick polls and surveys on hot topics in the field of career services.
