In the dynamic landscape of higher education, change is inevitable. As college career services leaders, the ability to effectively navigate and lead staff and stakeholders through change is essential for driving innovation, fostering resilience, and achieving organizational goals. Whether implementing new initiatives, restructuring services, or adapting to evolving student needs, successful leadership during times of change requires strategic vision, effective communication, and strong relationship-building skills. 

This workshop offers career services leaders practical insights and strategies for effectively leading staff and stakeholders through periods of transition and change. Participants will explore best practices in change management, communication strategies for engaging and motivating teams, and techniques for building resilience and managing resistance. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the tools and confidence to lead their teams through change with clarity, empathy, and effectiveness.

Learning Objectives

In this intensive workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the importance of effective leadership in guiding staff and stakeholders through change within college career services departments.
  • Learn principles and best practices of change management, including planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Explore strategies for effectively communicating change, managing resistance, and building buy-in among staff and stakeholders.
  • Gain insights into building trust and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders throughout the change process, ultimately enhancing the success and sustainability of career services initiatives.
